mini gift guide: the alphabet

February 27th, 2009 § 0

I think that the alphabet trend of 2007-08 is mostly over, but I still love the idea of spelling out something really big on my wall.

I don’t own a wall yet, so I’m hoping that there’ll still be some stragglers.

Here’s to the stragglers!

alphabet1
1. $6 – Metal/Enamel letters from Urban Outfitters.

2. $6 – Plywood letters, also from Urban Outfitters. They all have different patterns, but the “B” is my favourite.

3. $98 – Oversized Zinc Letters from Anthropologie. They’re a bit over two feet tall!

alphabet2
4. (left) $10.95 – Alphabet mugs from Fishs Eddy. These are SO cute.

5. (right) £11.50(about US $16) Initial mugs from Pedlars.

alphabet3
6. $200 – Iron Ampersand from House Industries. Yes, I understand that this is not part of the alphabet, but it is very rad.

7. $6 – More monogrammed mugs. This time in “missus“(get it, it’s girlier?) and normal versions from Anthropologie. It’s surprising that the best deal of the batch comes from Anthropologie, home of the $200 peasant blouse, but hey.

Admittedly, I’ve never been all that into my initials(S.K – nothing too interesting), but I do like the idea that I can noncommittally label a certain mug as “mine”. I mean, why would you drink from a mug that doesn’t have your initial on it?

For something a bit more temporal – what about alphabet ice cubes?
