A quick sculpt of a D&D mini from a game I’m playing in. (We’re all playing monsters).

A bit messy, but he’s only about an inch tall!

Another piece that will hopefully go to the Monsters With Bikes art show! This one is a sculpted sea monster(what do fish need with bicycles, again?) on a scale model of a tiny yellow bike.

I’m pretty proud of myself for NOT melting the bike in the oven this time around.

The sculpt itself is only about 3-1/2″ tall.

bike disaster #1

October 26th, 2009 § 0

I’m making a series of bike+monster sculptures for the Monsters With Bikes show! This one was inspired by accidentally melting a scale model of a bike in the oven.

Work in Progress – but nearly finished.

a girly garage.

Not the *girliest* garage, but that’s just because I hate pink. Still, I think it’s pretty cute.

The biscuit tin cover to the right inspired the colours. The circular corkboard things are Ikea trivets.

(Yeah, I know it’s not the best organization of tools…but I can find them!)

General Guster McWheezypants

October 19th, 2009 § 0

We have a cat! He’s a big, fat, orange purrmachine.

His name is Gus, which was the name he came with. We’ve expanded it to ‘General Guster McWheezypants”. He has asthma, and a somewhat collapsed lung. He’s on medication now, but the vet is hoping that in a calm home environment he’ll be able to graduate to using an cat-inhaler.

preview: erika’s personal monster(s)

October 16th, 2009 § 0

I’m not actually totally done with this one, but I wanted to post a preview!

It’s just a *leetle* preview, but I’m pretty fond of this grouping of little squirrel-tentacle monsters.

I may not seem all that productive this week, but I spent most of it sculpting something I decided later that I really didn’t like. Woe.

new specimen: wilbur

I updated the Specimen 7 Etsy shop a bit today, but here’s a picture of the goofiest looking specimen there.

logger

“One of our interns insisted that we could not label Logger Specimen No. 42 because “42″ was a special number. While we hold no hard feelings towards the answer to life, the universe, and everything, as people of science, we also happen to label things in numerical order.

Specimen No. 42 is slightly larger than most average specimens, and depending on who you ask, decidedly more debonair and charming.”

I’m working on more personal monsters, and will probably update with a couple on Thursday!

Caity’s Personal Monster

October 12th, 2009 § 2

I’ve been rolling along on the My Personal Monster project, and this one is my friend Caity’s.

“when i’m in a good mood i go bouncy-happy, love to polka-bounce-dance, and am stupidly loyal to folk i love…”

IMG_5880

I’ve known Caity since high school, and she’s one of those people that always seems to be in action, whether it’s singing or dancing, so I made her a dancing puppy-like monster.

More pictures after the jump.

my personal monster

October 8th, 2009 § 0

New project time! I’m sculpting monsters based on people – more specifically, based on three questions : what do you look like, what animal represents you best, and what colour represents you best. Yep, nothing too deep there.

kip's monster

I was sick today and stayed home and sculpted my first monster. He isĀ  based on the answers that Kip Manley gave(side note: if there is one non-fanfic serial novel you ever read on the internet, let it be Kip’s City of Roses, because it is fantastic).

Q: “What do you look like?”

A: “Impishly distinguished; mildly frazzled; chirpily avuncular; tweed and ties and hats and a tendency toward the portly, which is why I’m also fond of vests.”

A few more pictures after the jump.
