Drug Uses
Synthroid is used for healing of low thyroid activity and curing or suppressing different types of goiters. It is also can be used with surgery and other medicines for dealing with certain types of thyroid cancer.
How Taken
Take Synthroid as suggested by your doctor. Use Synthroid on an empty stomach at least one hour before or 2 to three hours after a food intake. It is advised that you take your dose 1 hour before first meal unless otherwise pre-scripted by your doctor. Take Synthroid with a full glass of clear water. This product works best if it is taken at the same time each day. It can take 4-6 weeks before you notice an improvement in your symptoms. This drug will usually have to be taken for life, except in the situations of impermanent low thyroid activity associated with thyroid inflammation and in patients who are taking Synthroid on a trial basis. For children or patients who cannot swallow whole pills- Crush the tablet and blend in 1 or 2 teaspoons of clear water, and give using a spoon or dropper as soon as possible after preparation. Don't keep the mixture for later. Don't mix crushed pills in soybean infant formula.
